Programmatic SEO, built so the pages are worth indexing

Integration pages, template libraries, location and vertical sets, comparison matrices. Done well it is the highest-leverage channel in SaaS. Done badly it is 12,000 doorway pages and a manual action.

The problem

The difference between a page set and a doorway

Every programmatic project faces the same test: does each generated page contain something a person would want that they could not get from the page next to it? Swap two variables in a template and the answer is no, and search engines have become efficient at working that out.

The projects that work start from a data asset — your integration catalogue, your usage benchmarks, a public dataset nobody has structured properly — and generate pages that are genuinely different from one another.

We also build the pruning system on day one, because a third of any large page set will underperform and needs removing.

You probably recognise

  • You built 3,000 pages and 200 got indexed
  • Your integration pages are a logo, a paragraph, and a Connect button
  • Traffic from the page set spikes then decays to nothing
  • Nobody can say which template variables actually matter

What you get

Everything included in
programmatic seo for saas

01

Data source assessment

What you already have that could support unique pages at scale, and what would need acquiring or generating.

02

Template design

A page structure with enough differentiated content per instance to justify indexation — usually five or more genuinely unique data points.

03

Keyword-to-URL generation logic

The rules that decide which pages get built, in what priority, and which combinations should never exist.

04

Build and integration

Implementation in your stack with sensible caching, incremental builds, and sitemap segmentation.

05

Index management

Staged rollout, segmented sitemaps, and monitoring so you can see index rate per cohort rather than as one number.

06

Pruning system

Automated flagging of pages that fail to earn impressions after a set window, so the set gets stronger rather than heavier over time.

How we run it

The sequence, start to finish

Same order every time, because the steps depend on each other. Skipping ahead is the most common reason these programs underperform.

  1. 01

    Validate demand

Confirm there are real searches behind the pattern before building anything. A surprising number of programmatic ideas fail here and should.

  2. 02

    Prototype ten pages by hand

If a hand-built version is not compelling, the templated version will be worse. This step kills bad projects cheaply.

  3. 03

    Build the data layer

Clean, structured, and maintainable. The data is the product; the template is packaging.

  4. 04

    Ship in cohorts

A few hundred pages, measure index rate and engagement, adjust the template, then expand.

  5. 05

    Route internal links

Programmatic sets are orphaned by default. Hub pages and contextual links from editorial content are what get them crawled.

  6. 06

    Prune and iterate

Quarterly. Remove the dead weight, expand the patterns that worked.

A good fit if

  • Products with integration ecosystems, marketplaces, or template libraries
  • Companies sitting on structured data nobody has published
  • Teams with engineering capacity to maintain a generated page set

Probably not if

  • Companies without a genuine data asset
  • Teams hoping to skip the content quality problem by adding volume

Questions

About programmatic seo

01 Is programmatic SEO risky?
The technique is not; thin content is. Guidelines target pages with no independent value, not templates. If each page answers a distinct query with distinct information, you are fine. If it is a mail merge, you are not.
02 How many pages should we build?
As many as you have genuine data to differentiate, and not one more. We have seen 200-page sets outperform 8,000-page sets in the same category, because the small one got indexed.
03 What if we do not have a data asset?
Sometimes we build one — a survey, a public-data aggregation, or structuring something your product already logs. That takes a quarter and is often worth it, since the data also fuels link acquisition.
